To give of one’s self: to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived…this is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson

My present gig:
This year, part of my ongoing education is in learning about all kinds of flowers and some shrubs.
Heres a pic of some of the prettiest flowers with which I am entrusted. These are Gerbera Daisys.
I'm also impressed with the little Vincas.
The white ones with water beaded on them is incredible beautiful.
The Moss Rose and Calibrosia are also impressive.
Bebe's tree adventure
Wednesday, our new kitten Bebe decided to chase birds and, of course, got her self marooned in the upper branches of this tree. First tree and first bird for the baby. She was up about four feet from the top the ladder. Tried some tricks to get her down to no avail. Sooooo, your blogger goes up the ladder.
To say that retrieving a crying and scared kitten from about fifty feet (well it was pretty high anyway) up a tree is difficult is an understatement. I have a new appreciation for the phrase "out on a limb".
Ahh the pleasures of pet ownership.

A couple of quotes:
... the Texas panhandle
Two quotes for today from a favorite writer:
You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need.
and
Beauty is only skin deep, but its a valuable asset if you're poor or haven't any sense.

Sherlock
ole -skool
Way back in the ninties I found myself sucked into Sherlock Holmes by Jeremy Britt on the AE tv. Dunno why, never had been a real fan or reader of SH. But these shows were/are fascinating in the settings, scenery, costumes and Britt just seemed to me to be THE SH.
Have been buying the CDs lately and really enjoying them again. And my wife enjoys them also.
