To give of one’s self: to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived…this is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nedra's County Fair Prizes
Nedra participated in the competitions of many classes (food, flowers, canning) in our recent local county fair. The competition was pretty intense with lots of local women and men entering.
She had a big win under the 'Herb' catagory with her Garlic Chives plant winning First Prize and also the coveted 'Best of Show' Blue Ribbon. Her entries of "Perkins Cascade" Red Rose Florabunda and her Cornbread Muffins both won Second Places spots and Red Ribbons and her "Peanut" Cactus won Third Place and a White Ribbon. She was also rewarded with a little cash for her wins. She had numerous other canning entries that failed to place and should have 'cause they are good! She is real happy with what she did win. She is planning now on entering into the neighboring county's fair in September.

That's some good lookin' chives! What's she going to do with them now? If she's considering drying them, I'd sure love some to use in cooking.
Congratulations Nedra!
Gave Nedra my seal of approval years ago. She's always been a top notch Southern cook and a wonderful person. I occasionally use her as a reference when bragging about how delicious Southern cooking is.
Beutiful chives! Nothing like fresh chives from the herb garden.
