Celebrating Islamic Style
Its that time of year, again, for the peaceful followers of peaceful Islam to take some time off from peaceful rioting, burning, pillaging, beheading infidels, killing Jews and killing each other in the name of their peaceful g0d to peacefully celebrate the peaceful holy islamic holiday of Ashura.
In order to participate, you will need a sharp sword and metal chains to flagellate yourself in this unique Religion of Peace ceremony. You will also need white robes to show off the blood and gore to your fellow celebrants. Children, horses and yes, even sheep are expected to participate.
Some of you may be horrified to see these pictures but you are urged to remember that this is but one more way to worship the Prophet of Doom a/k/a Allah, and despite appearances to the contrary, this is a religion and not a cult. In fact, it is "The Religion of Peace."

We are talking about idiot muslims not Bush or Christians. However I agree with you that Islam is a religion for idiots.
Why don't you get you own blog where you can rip Bush and the Christians and tell how nice the Muslims are.

Comments are one thing, insults entirely another. You seem positively hostile. You can disagree with a person without insulting them.

Run along tallbuilding... and find us some news stories about Christians, or any religion other than moslem blowing up schools and buses and places of worship, beheading people, performing honor killings.

Maybe tallbuilding is in small measure demonstrating part of the problem.
An ignorant or prejudiced approach to anything can do much more than just lead us astray. Religious fanaticism is not required for us to be misled or stimulated some how to annihilate one another. It seems that any topic of disagreement will do these days. Race, gender, nationality, political afiliation, who saw the parking place first, ect...into infinity I suspect.
There are many religious alternatives. The involvement of the big 3 of christianity, islam, and judaism doesnt seem to be absolutely necessary for this. It just looks like the historical conflict and disagreement between them will have to be played out to the bitter end. The rest of us will just have to suffer the process.

Agreed. People are ready to disagree, confront or fight today.
The 'Snickers' bar ad on the Superbowl Sunday evening as example. Some homosexual group took umbrage with the ad, raised hell and the candy bar folks pulled the ad from further showing. I just thought the ad was kind of goofy with the guys pulling out chest hair to prove they were 'straight'.
Excellent point...we don't merely bicker over religion any more. Anything will do. Instead of healthy debate, opposing opinions are just as likely to ruffle someone's sense of dignity and worth and end up in fistacuffs or worse.
"Tolerance", though, seems like it's much more strongly ingrained in Western cultures...at least we aspire to that ideal.
Oh, one other comment on TallBuilding...I was thinking that we should all be so lucky to get such a reader on our blogs. As William Hurt's character Nick said in The Big Chill, "I'm just trying to liven things up!"

Homosexual groups should probably also take umbrage with Islams approach to homosexuality. Death. Your likely to get that same snickers bar show on south beach down here anyway. Whether you want it or not. Goes to your point on perspective I think.
I'm waiting for the Irish to sober up and take offense to something and call for a "million Irish march on DC" to demand...well...something. When that happens I'm in. I'm there.
I encounter very few people down here who arent deeply engaged in a mission of deliberate discord of some flavor. Discord du jour? Guess its everywhere.
